Unique Shell Pattern

Meet one of the rarest Aldabra tortoises you’ll ever see! This lively little fellow isn’t just walking around—he’s turning heads with his unique shell pattern.

Most Aldabras have a nuchal scute, but only about 1% are missing this special piece, making him a true collector’s find. You’ll see his quirky extra scute, and watch as he expertly explores the table (without taking a tumble!), hinting at the natural instincts these giants developed on islands filled with rocky cliffs and dramatic heights.

Where do Aldabra tortoises actually come from? In this video, I show you a map and share insights into their wild island origins in the Indian Ocean, where adapting to heights helps them survive.

Whether you're a reptile enthusiast or just love unique animals, this video is packed with fascinating facts and a look at what makes this particular tortoise a genuine rarity.

Don’t miss his strong personality and uncommon genetics—perfect for anyone searching for an exceptional addition to their collection! Buy online:

Join Sam at the Giant Tortoise Farm for a special moment with a six-inch Aldabra tortoise, it's a great animal video! I share some personal history of the world and interesting facts about the reptile.

This animal video is a must-see for tortoise and animals lovers!

Large Adult Male Aldabra Tortoise Breeder  42" 390lbs

Large Display or Breeding Aldabra

A truly extraordinary opportunity to acquire a pair of Aldabra giant tortoises direct from the Aldabra Islands themselves.

This pair includes a massive 50-year-old male measuring 42 inches and weighing approximately 390 pounds, along with a beautifully proportioned 40-year-old female measuring 31 inches and weighing 210 pounds. Both are exceptional examples of their species, with unmatched size, conformation, and genetic purity.

Importing adult Aldabras directly from the islands is nearly impossible today. These animals represent one of the last chances to secure original bloodlines not related to any current U.S. stock—critical for breeding programs seeking true genetic diversification. Over my 25 years as the exclusive representative for Aldabra Island exports, the majority of adult Aldabras I’ve imported have gone on to become top breeders in the United States and abroad.

Mature adults of this size and reproductive potential are rarely, if ever, available. Their value extends far beyond their individual rarity—they are foundational breeding animals capable of producing offspring for decades.

I have been working with giant tortoises for over 40 years here on my farm in South Florida, providing lifelong support, husbandry guidance, and international export assistance. These two tortoises are of international zoo quality and represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of living history and establish the cornerstone of your Aldabra breeding program.

Serious inquiries only. This pair will not be available long—acquiring genuine Aldabra Island adults of this caliber is a privilege few will ever experience.
